Tradisi ini memang mirip dengan olahraga Anggar, dimana warga diajak beradu teknik dan kemampuan saling memukul dengan menggunakan sebilah rotan. Terdapat aturan permainan dalam tradisi ini, yakni setiap pemain memiliki jatah memukul dan menangkis masing-masing 3 kali. Bagi siapa yang banyak mengenai lawannya ketika memukul maka dialah yang menang.
Tradisi ini memiliki tujuan untuk menghindari datangnya bencana alam atau tolak bala dan selalu diselenggarakan pada setiap tahun. Keunikan lainnya dari tradisi ini adalah sebelum acara dimulai warga selalu melakukan ritual terlebih dahulu berupa permohonan doa kepada yang Maha Kuasa, agar kegiatan tersebut dapat berjalan dengan lancar dan tanpa ganjalan yang tidak diinginkan.
